Deputy President Ruto ICC trial resumes

The trial of Kenya Deputy President William Ruto at the International Criminal Court resumes on Wednesday.
The Trial Chamber V(A) had adjourned proceedings to allow Mr Ruto to travel back home in the wake of the Westgate Mall terror attack.
The defence for Mr Ruto had asked for the trials to be adjourned until October 14, a further two weeks on top of the one week the chamber had granted Mr Ruto last week following the terrorist attacks.
However, the Chamber rejected the application.
"The Chamber will partially grant the request. The adjournment is until Tuesday October 1 and the hearings to continue on Wednesday October 2,” presiding judge Chile Eboe-Osuji ruled last Friday.
The first prosecution witness is expected to continue with her testimony during a closed session.
